Psychiatric projects:Early detection and treatment department and theDisability platform

  • SDIP

Public perceptions and opinions of the Hôpital Kirchberg have been the subject of numerous reports on radio and TV in Luxembourg, and particularly the role of the psychiatry department in reforming psychiatry and its impact upon the community, including the treatment of drug addicts or teenagers (juvenile psychiatry).

In 2008, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training, the Ministry of Health and the Hôpital Kirchberg set up a Service de Détection et d'Intervention Précoce (SDIP)Early detection and treatment department), to welcome teenagers suffering from the early stages of mental problems, with the goal of reducing the dropout rate of teenagers with mental issues. The SDIP operates as a department of the Hôpital Kirchberg and is based in an office in Luxembourg-Ville.

  • The disability platform

In 2013, doctors from the Hôpital Kirchberg’s juvenile psychiatry department will be participating in the disability platform run by the EGCA (Entente des Gestionnaires et Centre d'Accueil – an organisation for the managers of reception centres) with the aim of drawing up a standard model for dealing with disabled patients suffering from behavioural problems including an assessment and evaluation system.
