Day Hospital

hotpitaljourDay surgery is an everyday occurrence at the Clinique Bohler.

Our Day Hospital allows us to accommodate patients for :

  • minor surgery, which can be performed without anaesthesia or under a simple local anaesthetic. In this case, the patient can leave again immediately following the operation; and
  • certain operations requiring anaesthesia (spinal anaesthesia or general anaesthesia), but not requiring hospitalisation the night following the operation. In other words, you can return home just a few hours following the surgery.

All is in place so that this short stay on our premises is reassuring and comfortable, thanks to attentive, qualified and friendly staff.

For further information relating to the formalities of admission and discharge, as well as consultations, please visit our Practical info section.

Course of your stay

  • For operations not requiring an anaesthetist or which are carried out under local anaesthetic:

Your admission time is scheduled by the pre-hospitalisation service. Your first stop will be the main Reception on the ground floor of the Clinic.

The operation will take place in the treatment room at the Day Hospital, located at the ground floor of the Clinic.

You will then be able to return home. If need be, you will have an appointment at the Polyclinic for a post-operative exam or treatment, such as suture removal.

  • For operations which require an anaesthetist to be present:

The anaesthetic consultation, several days before the operation, is mandatory. The anaesthetist will offer you the anaesthetic technique best suited to your situation, based on the scheduled operation and your health. The final choice, for which you give your consent, releases the anaesthetist-ICU doctor from the decision and the responsibility.

Your admission time is scheduled by the pre-hospitalisation service.

On the day of the operation, your first stop will be the main Reception located at the ground floor of the Clinic. You will then be hospitalised in a room at the Day Hospital.

The surgery will be performed in the operating theatre on the first floor and will be followed by a short stay in the recovery room. Once transferred to your room, our staff will take care of you.

The discharge time will be decided by medical opinion. Please note that you are not authorised to leave on your own following an anaesthetic; please plan for a person to accompany you when you leave. If need be, you will have an appointment at the Polyclinic for a post-operative exam or treatment, such as suture removal.

Of course, our staff is entirely at your service if you have the least concern. Do not hesitate to come in to see us or telephone the Polyclinic in the event of any doubt. If required, the nurse will then ensure contact is made with your doctor.

Opening hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Our gynaecology department takes over for any emergencies outside these hours.
